Admittedly, there are times when I’m less than happy with our local councils, but there are others when I’m decidedly more than happy for them to fulfill other roles than just roads and footpaths, sewage disposal and the supply of fresh water.
Hastings District Council really excels in honouring people who have contributed to our community, whether by achieving some accomplishment or by serving as volunteers in a remarkably diverse range of community organisations.
It’s been my pleasure to photograph the last few years’ Civic Honours Awards, both the awards presentation and portraits of the winners in locations relative to their area of passion.
These people add so much to the life of our community and it is wonderful that we celebrate them.
