Today’s ceremony was led by Cr Malcolm Dixon, assisted by acting chief executive Craig Cameron. As usual, the caps and cuddly lambs were very popular with the children.

About 30 new citizens are welcomed into New Zealand and the Hastings District each month at a Citizenship Ceremony held in the Hastings District Council chambers. Each new citizen swears the oath or affirmation of allegiance and is presented with their Certificate of Citizenship. Each family is then presented with a kowhai tree from the council to commemorate the date.

All photographs from this event can be seen and ordered from its album on the SALES page.
